Print fails in class: three lessons
Three real failures from the printing course, and the habits they produced.
The fails
A lid printed without tolerance that never closed; a tower too thin that snapped; an unsupported overhang that became spaghetti. Each was predictable on paper.
The lessons
Design for the machine, not the render: clearances from day one, minimum feature thickness, and a support strategy before printing. The class now runs a ten-minute pre-print checklist.
Frequently asked questions
Are failed prints wasted?
No — each fail became a lesson everyone used. We keep the worst ones on the shelf as reminders.
